Raising Boys

Raising Boys is the third volume in our Conversations with Ransomed Heart series, in which we share with you our journeys as boys who became men and as the fathers of boys. John Eldredge, Bart Hansen, and Gary Barkalow speak from their hearts about what it means to be a son and how to raise boys to become men.

1 Corinthians 16:13 says, "Stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong."

To be a man is a very powerful thing. How to become a man is something most people know little about. There is a passage a boy goes through from boyhood to young manhood. We have initiated events in our sons' lives for this passage, and we share these with you, intending it will be helpful to you as you raise boys.

Our experiences in growing up as boys are also revealed -- the things that both captured our hearts and drove us to deep disappointment. In journeying we've discovered:

It's never too late to initiate a boy into manhood
It's never too late for you to experience this passage if it wasn't given to you
If you are a single mom, there is wisdom and grace for you, as well.

All of it is offered with two purposes in mind: to help men "fill in the holes" in their masculine journeys and to help our listeners be more intentional about raising boys into men.
